From 1995 we identified, promoted and master planned this urban extension for Countryside Properties plc on a large greenfield site to the south west of Braintree, both through the former development plan system and subsequent planning permissions.
The mixed use garden village comprises 2,000 dwellings, retail and commercial, schools, a high quality business park and a country park. In addition to this we prepared a Brief setting out the design principles for the village.
Award winning Great Notley Garden Village is now an established and successful community, which has achieved national recognition as a model for quality place-making.
It was also a pioneering development in being one of the first in the UK to be designed as a 20 mph traffic-calmed environment.
