ST MICHAEL’S MEAD | BISHOPS STORTFORD
A residential neighbourhood on 107 acres of land to the west and south-west of Bishop’s Stortford was promoted at the East Hertfordshire Local Plan Inquiry and subsequently at a ‘call-in’ inquiry, as directed by the Secretary of State. Permission was granted in June 1992 for a new residential neighbourhood to include 900 homes, a new bypass, public open space, shopping and a package of community facilities.
We were the key co-ordinators of a team of consultants, negotiating conditions and a section 106 agreement, culminating in the re-defining of the Green Belt to the west of Bishop’s Stortford and a successful permission. The scheme is now built and has won a number of design awards.
